Plumbing FAQs

Septic Tank FAQ

Organic solids collect at the surface to form a layer of “scum.” Bacteria in the septic tank then make this material liquid while the inorganic material sinks to the bottom of the tank and creates a layer of “sludge.”

We recommend septic be pumped every 3-4 years. An unhealthy tank will need to be pumped more frequently. This could imply there is a problem with the leach field.
